Not sure which lesson tier to choose? This guide breaks down exactly who each package is designed for and what you'll work on — so you can start with the right fit.
Choosing the right lesson package matters. Too basic and you'll be bored and unchallenged. Too advanced and you'll be overwhelmed and discouraged.
Here's a honest breakdown of who each tier is actually for.
Beginner Package ($99/month)
Best for:
- Children starting their first instrument
- Adults who have never played before
- Students who rented a horn from school band and want extra support
- Players who've been away for years and want to re-start from scratch
What you'll actually work on:
- Embouchure — how to hold the mouthpiece and produce sound
- Breath support — the foundation of everything
- The first 10–15 notes of the saxophone
- Simple songs and melodies you recognize
- Major scales in easy keys
- Reading basic sheet music notation
What to expect:
- 4 lessons per month, 30 minutes each
- Weekly practice plans tailored to your current progress
- Access to my sheet music library
- Email feedback between lessons if questions come up
At the end of 2–3 months, you should be able to play simple melodies, handle the full chromatic range comfortably, and have a consistent, musical sound.
Not right for you if: You've been playing for more than a year and are comfortable with scales across the full range.
Intermediate Package ($159/month)
Best for:
- Students who have 1–3 years of experience
- School band players who want to improve faster than band class allows
- Students preparing for All-State, district, or chair auditions
- Adults with some playing experience who want to take it seriously
- Players who want to start learning jazz and improvisation
What you'll actually work on:
- All major and minor scales at higher tempos
- Jazz standards and the language of jazz phrasing
- Introduction to improvisation — scales over chord changes, ear training
- Tone development across all three registers
- Technique drills: speed, flexibility, articulation
- Audition preparation: etudes, sight-reading, performance presence
What to expect:
- 4 lessons per month, 45 minutes each
- Video recording review — you send recordings and I give detailed feedback
- Repertoire building toward performance
- Priority scheduling and invites to my student recitals
- Performance prep and mock auditions before real auditions
Most students at this level see measurable improvement in 4–6 weeks if they're practicing 25–30 minutes daily.
Not right for you if: You're a complete beginner, or you're an advanced player already performing regularly.
Professional Package ($249/month)
Best for:
- Serious high school musicians planning to study music in college
- Adults who want to perform at a professional level
- Students preparing for college music auditions or music school entrance exams
- Players who want to pursue gigging, teaching, or performance as a career
- Anyone who wants to incorporate DJ or live performance skills into their work
What you'll actually work on:
- Advanced improvisation: complex chord changes, modal playing, outside playing
- Full performance coaching — set list building, stage presence, reading audiences
- Studio-quality recording sessions for audition submissions and portfolios
- Gig preparation and booking assistance
- Music theory at a college level
- DJ services integration for performers who want to do both
- Networking into the Oklahoma/OKC live music scene
What to expect:
- 4 lessons per month, 60 minutes each
- In-person preferred for the depth of work this level requires
- Unlimited email/text support between lessons
- Professional studio recording opportunities
- Introductions to venues, event coordinators, and working musicians in Oklahoma
